Software Engineer

About the role

Orchid is the product the consulting work exists to inform: one live, permission-aware model of how a company runs, built by matching the data in its systems with the knowledge in its people's heads, so every answer carries its source. Four primitives: entities, knowledge, trackers and actions.

This is the junior engineering role on that team. You write real product code from early on, reviewed properly, with someone senior close enough to ask.

Responsibilities

• Build features across the stack: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Postgres.
• Write tests that would catch the thing going wrong, and keep them fast.
• Work on the retrieval and data layer that makes an answer citable back to its source, and on the API and MCP server a client's own assistant reads through.
• Treat code review as the main way you get better, quickly.

You may be a good fit if you

• Can already build and ship something that works, whether that came from a degree, a job, a bootcamp or your own projects.
• Know JavaScript or TypeScript properly and are willing to learn the rest here.
• Care about the details: naming, edge cases, and what the thing does when the input is wrong.
• Read code you did not write before changing it.

Strong candidates may also have

• Anything you have built and put in front of real users.
• Exposure to LLM APIs beyond a tutorial.

Hours

Full time or part time.

Salary

€40,000 to €70,000 a year, gross. Part time is genuinely available at this level, and said so up front rather than negotiated for later.
